Painting your kitchen cabinets can bring a breath of fresh air to your everyday life, and it is a low-hassle way to make a high-impact change to the look of your home interior. Choosing the color, however, can prove to be a challenge. Does this internal monologue sound familiar?
Me: I’d love to paint these cabinets. They’re just, well, blah.
Also me: Well, white is popular. Remember John and Jane’s cabinets? They painted them white, and it looks great!
Me: That’s true. But everyone seems to be painting their cabinets white these days.
Still me: Yeah, I guess. What about black? Remember that picture in the magazine in the doctor’s office?
Me: Uh, that’s a bit extreme for my taste.
And so it goes. So, what color can we use on kitchen cabinets that will create a sharp, new look without being too much of a good thing? Sand!
It’s Not Quite Beige, and It’s Definitely Not Gray
While it may not be an official color name, “sand’ is a good description for this off-white, refreshingly new neutral color. Take a look at a few kitchens that show it off to perfection:
This one is quite suble!

Like any good neutral color, Sand goes well with pretty much anything, especially white, gray, brown, and natural wood. It won’t clash with your appliances, whether they are stainless steel, black, or another color.
