We’ve been talking a lot about wood staining and refinishing lately (if you missed them, take a look at our last couple of blogs here and here).
Painting can tend to steal the show, but as a high-end painting company with a long history of exceptional wood refinishing, we like to draw attention to more natural finishes, too. There are few things more satisfying than highlighting the natural warmth and character of a beautiful piece of wood, while simultaneously adding essential protection.
In this case, we were asked to refinish a gorgeous Portland home with Ipe siding. Ipe is really an incredible material: 100% natural and renowned for its strength and durability. In fact, thanks to its strength and charm, it is often used as a higher-end deck material too.

Faded and worn, the wood was definitely ready for a fresh look. As you can see in the first photo below, there also were watermarks in certain spots (particularly along the outer edges) that needed to be rubbed out.
