Style choices seem to be endless. What if you don’t exactly know what colors you want for your renovation, or what if you need more inspiration before making your final decision on your home’s style?
We are here to help! As leaders in the painting industry, we have seen many trends throughout the years. To help you out, we have compiled a list of several of our favorite interior design trends for 2019.
Scandinavian Style – Elegant Grey Walls
Scandinavian home decorating uses shades of grey for a muted, understated look. For that ornate, Gustavian look, choose soft greys such as Farrow & Ball’s Ammonite or Wevet.
This style is a great choice for spaces with lots of natural light. Or, if you are feeling the grey, but not ready to paint your whole home in this cool neutral, consider a Scandinavian style in your kitchen.
With such a muted palette, consider adding organic accents, such as ferns or other botanicals for a traditional Scandinavian feel. This adds color, without taking away from the beautiful, calm grey tones.
Coastal Homes – Sun, Waves and Sandy Toes
Another beloved home style is the coastal look. Think lovely shades of blues and greens! This style is exciting because you can really customize the look to reflect your own personal inspiration.
Are you looking for a calm, relaxing environment? Choose something like this blue (or is it green) Parma Grey from Farrow & Ball. This crisp color pairs well with neutral colors such as Wimborne White.
If you like coastal homes with a little energy, you may want to consider utilizing a darker color! Navy is classic coastal, and looks absolutely stunning with light accents. Think white mirrors, sea shells, or even white wainscoting.
Urban – Stylish and Inviting
Urban homes have captured the elusive feel of comfortable elegance, without feeling stuffy. Many urban rooms are filled with muted blues. This is a great style for small homes. You can create a huge impact in a small room, using this decorating style!
Many urban homes use exposed brick in their decorating style. If you are lucky enough to have a brick wall, don’t paint over it, but choose colors that will complement the brick! Both Dimpse and Plummett would make understated compliments to the brick.
Country – Traditional and Always Popular
Country style homes never go out of fashion. Because of the use of warm neutrals, country spaces are inviting and oh-so-cozy. However, to avoid an outdated look, choose your colors wisely.
Think of classic colors such as Cooking Apple Green, Cook’s Blue and Rectory Red as you decorate! These are warm, rich and inviting. Again, this style works well in all area of the home, but looks exceptionally well in areas with lots of light.
