When you live in a high-end home, it becomes even more important. You want a stunning appearance that reflects your investment in your property and adds to its value for a respectable return on resale.Exterior house painting plays an important role in house maintenance. It eliminates chips and stains for a clean, fresh appearance, and it’s also an opportunity to change the look to express your unique tastes. More than that, new paint acts as a defensive barrier. By repainting your home, you help it look good now and in the long term by protecting its siding and structure against the elements. When Is the Best Time to Paint Your House Exterior?Interior painting is climate-controlled and can be tackled during any season. When it comes to exterior painting, however, timing matters. Seasonal weather impacts how your paint applies and dries, which can impact the finish. Factors to consider include:Temperature: Cold weather can thicken paint, interfering with how it adheres to surfaces. Similarly, too-hot weather causes paint to blister and bubble for a messy finish.Precipitation: While exterior paint is weather-resistant, this feature doesn’t come into effect until the paint is fully cured. You want at least 24 to 48 hours without rain or snow.Humidity: High humidity makes paint dry more slowly and can result in a splotchy, runny finish. To avoid this, house painting should occur during periods of low humidity.Debris: While not weather-related, seasonal debris is also a problem. Pollen and fallen leaves can stick to fresh paint, creating marks and bumps that stick after it cures. The best time to paint the exterior of your house is when temperatures are moderate, humidity is relatively low, and there is no heavy pollen or falling leaves. Typically, this means late spring or early fall. Your home deserves the best, so don’t give in to impatience. Wait for the right season to ensure a final product that is smooth and blemish-free. Your Springtime Exterior ChecklistOnce you’ve chosen a time for your exterior painting project, it’s time to make a checklist. House painting requires more than simply brushing on a bucket of paint. To create a smooth and appealing finish, you’ll need to complete a multi-step preparation process:Power washing to loosen debris and ensure a clean surfaceInspecting and replacing old caulk and adhesivesRepairing minor wood damage and rotStripping off old paint or stuccoSelecting the right products to create your desired finishThese steps prepare the surface to make sure the paint goes on smoothly. They also address minor wear and tear, which helps to prevent serious issues down the road. Your home will look good longer, and you’ll avoid expensive repairs that cost much more than simple upkeep. How Can I Choose the Right Exterior Paint Contractor? Finally, you’ll want to choose a paint contractor who can deliver the quality work you expect.
