Have you ever wondered if you can get your walls to precisely match a specific item in your home? Maybe a vase, or a detail color in a Persian rug? Is it possible to do that kind of color matching? Absolutely! As a professional house painting company, we are able to provide custom interior paint colors, and we can do paint color matching for many situations.
Let's take a few moments to explore what is possible with color matching and custom paint colors.
Paint Colors Matching an Item in Your Home
Is there a work of art in your home with a color you love? Or is it a table runner, or even an item of clothing with a color you adore? We can help you get just the right shade of paint so that your walls come out exactly as you dreamed!
Paint Colors Matching a Photo
Have you seen the perfect color online somewhere, or in some kind of brochure or advertisement? We can provide paint color matching services for these kinds of inspirations, even if the paint used in the photo is from a different brand than what we use.
Matching an Existing Paint Color in the Home
Sometimes we want to keep the same color we already have, but we need the walls to be refreshed and redone. Or maybe we want the current color on one wall to be used on other walls as well. We can get new paint to match the older paint, even if it was a different brand.
This is where we get to a limitation of color matching, however…
Color Matching for Wall Touch-ups
It is basically impossible to get a paint color that matches so well that it could be used for touch-up painting on a wall. What will nearly always happen is that the patched spots will have a slightly different tone to the color, and a tiny variation in the sheen, that will prevent the touched-up spot from blending well with the rest of the wall. This will almost always be the case, even if you are using the same can of paint that the wall was originally painted with!
In order to have a seamless, attractive appearance, a wall must usually be painted from one edge or corner to another. If you need touch-ups on one wall, we can usually paint just that wall, and the seams will not be noticed if the new paint and the old paint meet in a corner.
Another Thing to Be Aware of
Every house and every room is different, and the color you love in a photo or on your vase may look very different on a wall, even if it is matched precisely. It may be the size of the wall, or the lighting in the room, or some unpredictable factor that can make a color look differently than you expected. A good house painter can help you anticipate some of these possibilities, but until the room is fully painted, there will always be some element of unpredictability.
